Q150 Flagpole Lighting, Toowoomba Regional Council

Location: Toowoomba
Completion date: January 2009

To celebrate Queensland's 150th birthday, a 150 foot high flagpole now stands at Picnic Point in Toowoomba on the escarpment of the Great Dividing Range.  A 12 metre x 6 metre Australian Flag flies from the pole day and night.  The flag was first raised on Australia Day 2009.

Ashburner's Role

Flag protocol requires any flag flown at night to be lit.  Our job was to design the floodlighting system to achieve this.  Extensive computer modelling was carried out to select the correct light fittings and optimum aiming angles.
