The Village on the Downs is a new residential community development in Toowoomba.
It offers a complete retirement lifestyle package by combining purpose built housing with a range of on site services and activities, including a Community Centre, a Shopping Centre, a Medical Centre and the University of the Third Age.
The village will ultimately comprise more than 200 units, each of which includes 2 0r 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, a living area and a lockup garage.
Over 160 units have already been built and are occupied.
Features of the services provided include:-
- An on-site PABX telephone system, allowing free calls between residents, while still providing all of the features of a normal telephone service.
- A site wide master antenna television system, with in-house channels and access to Pay Television via satellite.
- A front gate security system, with an intercom and video link from the gate to every residence.
- An emergency call system giving 24 hour access to a dedicated monitoring service.
Ashburner's Role
Ashburner Francis are designing the electrical and communications infrastructure for the project, as well as the internal building services.
